Chromosome Numbers and Karyotypes of Four Species Rubus L. from North of Iran
Karyotype study was performed across 7 populations of 4 Rubus species growing in Iran. The results showed that the chromosome numbers of R. sanctus (2n=2x=14) diploid, R. caesius, and R. discolor were (2n=4x=28) tetraploids, R. persicus (2n=8x=56) octoploid. The chromosome numbers of R. discolor, and R. persicus were reported here for the first time. Karyotypic formula also varied between the s...
متن کاملCHROMOSOME STUDIES OF IRANIAN MEMBERS OF TRIBE SOPHOREAE (FAMILY LEGUMINOSAE
The tribe Sophoreae sensu Polhill [9,10] is a large and diverse assemblage comprising the ancient and primitive ancestral stocks of Papilionoideae. The most frequent chromosome basic numbers in this tribe are x = 11 and x = 9 but chromosome numbers range from x = 8-14 are also known. In this study chromosome numbers and karyotype variation of Iranian members of tribe Sophoreae are reported. Ira...
متن کاملPsychophysiological Markers of Vulnerability to Psychopathology in Men with an Extra X Chromosome (XXY)
Studying genetically defined syndromes associated with increased risk for psychopathology may help in understanding neurodevelopmental mechanisms related to risk for psychopathology. Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY) is one of the most common sex chromosomal aneuploidies (1 in 650 male births) and associated with increased vulnerability for psychopathology, including psychotic symptoms. Yet, it rem...
متن کاملGerm cell loss in the XXY male mouse: altered X-chromosome dosage affects prenatal development.
Male mammals with two X chromosomes are sterile due to the demise of virtually all germ cells; however, the underlying reasons for the germ cell loss remain unclear. The use of a breeding scheme for the production of XXY male mice has allowed us to experimentally address the question of when and why germ cells die in the XXY testis and whether the defect is due to the presence of an additional ...
متن کاملKaryotypes and chromosome rearrangements in two tribes of weevils (Coleoptera, Curculionidae: Sciaphilini and Braehydrini).
A description of karyotypes in two tribes of weevils, Sciaphilini and Brachyderini, was carried out with a discussion on the main trends of chromosomal evolution occurring in these groups. Some important cytological characteristics, such as chromosome morphology, sex determination type, pattern of male meiosis, B chromosome occurrence, as well as C-heterochromatin, NOR localization, and fluoroc...
